Casa Emilie focuses its services on after-school tutoring, homework support; programming classes, English, guitar among other educational activities and excursions to cultural spaces such as museums, archaeological sites among others, it also offers medical and psychological advice, food and continuous support to the family. 

A generous donation in 2022 from Dr. Herbert Steiner of Berkeley, California, enabled the Children's Hope Center to establish a satellite center in Santa Cruz Xoxocotlán. This space is named Casa Emilie in honor of Dr. Steiner's late wife, Emilie.

“She wanted to help the children of Oaxaca,” he said. “I’m just fulfilling her wishes… Fifty years ago, my wife visited Oaxaca for the first time and fell in love with its people, its culture, and its way of life. In the intervening years, deep friendships developed, and she returned frequently to experience the beauty of the region and the warmth of its people. At the same time, she saw much abject poverty… and decided to try to help expand educational opportunities for the region’s poor children, thus offering them a better future.”
